Personal Information

Who am I?

My name is Martijn (pronouce as Martin). I was born in a little apartment in a village called Soest, which is located near Amersfoort. It happened around half past six in the morning on May 20, 1981. I think I'm about 1.80 meters tall and I'm not wearing glasses or contact lenses yet, even tough I'm slightly (very slightly) short-sighted. Also, I have a healthy sense of humor, drama, and other usefull stuff. I am resistent to stress and emotional overload.

What am I?

Now that you know "who" I am, lets tell you "what" I am, because the two are quite different. I am a specialist, a technichian, a freak, whatever you want to call it. I work at a large Internet Service Provider, known as Tiscali (dutch) as a front-end developer. That means I work on front-end part (the GUI or WUI) of all kinds of projects. Occasionally I do back-end programming as well. I work closely with the designers, which means I pick up some stuff about that too.

What do I like?

Some people think unrightfully that I spend all day at my computer, but that isn't true at all. I always go to work by bicycle (which is only 15 minutes), I like movies (scifi, action, thriller, animation, etc), music (trance, jpop, oldskool, and some others) and I have sense of mystery (ask any mysterious question and I have an answer ready).

Animation? Isn't that for kids?
Not necessarily. Many animation stuff is purely made for kids. But as an intelligent adult, when even I have trouble figuring out the story of a modern anime series, you could doubt that it was ever meant for children. Especially anime (Japanese animation) is the kind of moving drawing I like. I own several anime DVD's as well as a good number of series. Mostly they're in the genres drama, mystery/magic, ecchi or romance (or a combination). I could go on and on about anime and my animes, but I'd be giving away too much of myself.

Itadakimasu!
It's Japanese, it means "let's eat!" or "have a nice meal!". I love tasty food, especially Japanese food is really nice. You would then expect me to like fish as well, which is true. Stay away from blowfish (fugu), though, because they're poisonous.
